Come relax and paint!
This event is a fun, easy, relaxing form of abstract painting in the dark! Mindful painting induces feelings of calm, quiets overactive minds, and connects you to the present moment while tapping into your inner creative flow. The end result is an abstract painting you create in a fun, relaxing atmosphere.
We begin with a brief explanation of what mindful painting is and how to do it. We will then choose our paints, engage in a brief, relaxing visualization exercise, and then begin painting. Feel free to bring your own snacks/refreshments if you'd like.
Even though we love social events with friends, this particular class is best suited for individuals who feel comfortable working quietly on their own. Feel free to bring a friend, but while painting, we encourage you to work in solitude or bring music that puts you in the zone. You may listen to it with ear buds after we explain the process.
No experience with art or mindfulness necessary. Seating is limited. Reservations required.
10/18, 12 PM: Children's Fingerpainting, $15
10/24, 6 PM: Spooky Sensations & Intuitive Painting--A Calming Halloween Experience that combines savoring with painting, $47
Come join our children's mindfulness events. These are small group events that may include interactive story lessons and/or hands-on activities and visualization/sensory activities that teach children how to calm themselves. It is best suited for children who enjoy sitting and listening to stories or getting involved in a hands-on activity that requires following directions, can use and describe their imagination, and can engage in breathing exercises (approx ages 3-8).
This event lasts approximately one hour. Parenting tips on the how & why the calming activities work and how to use them at home are included. The activities change for each session.
Seating is limited. Advance reservations are required.
CAUTION: THIS IS A SENSORY EVENT THAT MAY CAUSE SENSORY OVERLOAD FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE SENSITIVE TO SENSATIONS. Please call ahead if you have questions.

My main driving force when opening Tree of Life was to provide our greater community with a place to relax and reconnect with our inner selves and others. As we get older, we get busier and tend to not see our friends as much. Come learn how (and why) to create a moment of self-care in your busy schedule while doing what you do everyday--eating and drinking. But in addition to the wellness tips and savoring experience, come for the sisterhood and re-establish friendly connections. You will learn why having positive friendships and tweaking your simple daily acts will provide therapeutic benefits.
Limited seating. Advance registration required. Feel free to call and check last minute availability.
*At Tree of Life, we utilize mindfulness as a way to be more consciously present in our daily life while shifting our perspective which results in stress reduction. Mindfulness is so much more than trying to quiet the mind. In fact, common examples of how you can practice mindfulness include while you are driving, walking, doing the dishes, and cooking or baking. The practice induces feelings of calm, balance, and self control and has been shown to have positive impacts on your health, temperament, & relationships.

Spending time in nature is one of the best ways to be grounded in the moment, a fundamental concept of mindfulness. However, if you are doing your gardening without practicing mindfulness, you are missing out on tremendous wellness benefits. Come to our mindful gardening class and learn how to make the most of your time in the garden so you can feel calmer and more revitalized. But please note, the emphasis is on mind and body benefits--not gardening or pruning tips. So come ready to get your hands dirty with a small garden project, but expect the real benefit to be leaving with your senses satisfied, your body calmed, and more knowledge on how to recreate such a feeling when you are gardening on your own.

Traditional Gardening Events Returning in the Spring!
In our mindful kitchen lesson, learn how to take a daily chore such as preparing a meal and turn it into a therapeutic activity with positive benefits.
Unfortunately there is a misunderstanding in our society that mindfulness is simply meditation. Mindfulness is so much more than trying to quiet the mind. In fact, common examples of how you can practice mindfulness include while you are driving, walking, doing the dishes, and cooking or baking. The practice induces feelings of calm, balance, and self control and has been shown to have positive impacts on your health and temperament.
Please note, the emphasis of this class is on mind and body benefits--not a cooking lesson with a recipe. So come ready to get your hands dirty with some cooking tools and ingredients, but expect the real benefit to be leaving with your senses satisfied, your body calmed, and more knowledge on how to recreate such a feeling when you are cooking or baking on your own or with your kids.

Engaging in arts and crafts isn’t just fun—it’s scientifically good for your brain. When you create something with your hands, your brain lights up with activity, activating areas involved in problem-solving, coordination, and emotional regulation. This kind of creative expression has been shown to reduce cortisol (the stress hormone) and increase dopamine, the "feel-good" chemical that boosts mood and motivation.
Activities like painting, coloring, knitting, or sculpting also promote neuroplasticity, which helps the brain form new connections and stay mentally flexible—something that’s especially valuable as we age. For both kids and adults, arts and crafts support fine motor skills, focus, memory, and mindfulness, making them a natural and enjoyable way to care for mental well-being.
