As a former college professor who taught classes every semester on wellness, mindfulness, neuroscience, and psychology, when I made the difficult decision to leave higher ed, it was with the intent to create a space that helped people create permanent calm and happiness in their lives. The result of that is Tree of Life Esthetics Studio: A Happiness Boutique. Our happiness boutique offers a selection of products and services that are dedicated to the science of inducing calm, enjoying the moment, and creating happiness and inner peace. We teach our customers and clients how to use that science to make choices that increase joy and relaxation and minimize bad stress and negative emotions. We do this in a variety of ways to meet as many people's needs as possible. We offer restorative & gentle skincare that is even safe for cancer patients (doctor's permission required), feel-good gifts & home decor, and self-care events to foster happiness & well-being. All of our retail products are also connected to the science of happiness. So for instance, social connection, time in nature, hobbies like cooking or art, spirituality, meditation, self-care, reading, journaling, and time with animals are all ways to boost mood, so our products are aligned to these activities. Mindfulness is simply paying attention to what you are doing in the present moment without any judgment. It is done to reduce tension, stress, and worry and to increase emotional intelligence, control, and feelings of calm. It is fairly common knowledge that stress can impact your skin, but most people do not think to included relaxation practices into their daily skincare rituals. That is why we combined mindfulness and skincare services at Tree of Life. It is nothing scary or taboo--it is simply understanding how to calm your body to calm your skin and mind. The technical name for the field is called psychodermatology, and according to Dr. Keira Barr (This is Why Your Skin & Mental Health Are So Connected, 2019), research shows "that stress stimulates both the brain and the skin to signal the release of hormones that can trigger inflammation, impair wound healing, accelerate aging, and worsen skin conditions including acne, eczema, and psoriasis." Opposite of this, mindfulness and various self-care practices calm the mind and the body (including the skin) when done on a regular basis. Despite the large amounts of studies that highlight these positive impacts, the principles are not commonly known by the public. Most of the time, individuals are focused solely on caring for the skin from the outside without healing it from the inside. But at Tree of Life, we think working from the inside is even more important, so we work in both directions. This not only helps current concerns, but helps to proactively combat future issues from occurring. When you visit, please expect our skincare treatments to be infused with at least some elements of mindfulness, even if it is just an element of relaxation. We recognize that not everyone is comfortable with deep relaxation, so please be sure to share with us your comfort level so we can cater our sanctuary to your unique needs. Yes! Please visit our online store which you can find under our services section of our website. When you are checking out, please indicate if you’d  like the gift mailed, emailed, picked up, or delivered and then include the appropriate information (address/email) for the recipient in the note section  and any preferences you may have if you are purchasing a gift basket.  We can deliver gift baskets to the surrounding area within a 25 mile radius. If the address is within 10 miles it is free delivery. It is a $10 delivery fee for anything over 10 miles, up to 25 miles. We utilize Farmhouse Fresh, Circadia, EllaOla, and Hale and Hush sensitive skin products for our body treatments and facials. All of these companies are dedicated to producing professional-grade, clean, safe skincare products with only natural fragrances from the botanicals in the ingredients. Using these three lines allows us optimal customization for all of our clients' skincare goals. From our clients with sensitive or "health-challenged skin" (Hale and Hush), to those seeking more aggressive corrective results (Circadia), to those who love relaxing, decadent results-oriented treatments (Farmhouse Fresh), we have the tools for the perfectly customized service. We also carry their incredible retail products, along with ayurvedic products and children's products too. Additionally, we stock an incredible selection of journals, books, candles, art products, blown glass & suncatchers, home decor, seasonal products, gifts, kitchen products, throw blankets & pillows, garden supplies, clothing, and jewelry from various partners such as Kira Willey, MantraBands, The Coco Bee, Audrey's, Kaffe, Grounds & Hounds, Sage & Stone, Andalucca, Sunwarrior, errbshop, Mr.Bird, Warming Pals, Paavani, Sugar Bee, Yala, Sienna Glass (UK), and many more! If you are a first time client, please plan for an additional 15 minutes for your first visit to complete our intake forms before your appointment begins. But don't worry. We promise that this part will be worth your time despite the dread that usually comes with it. So please, be on time so you don't miss some extra pampering. For all appointments, please try to arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time, preferably with no makeup if you are getting a facial. Feel free to come casual. We want you to relax! 

We understand that sometimes being late in unavoidable. We will do our best to accommodate your booked service in its entirety. However, due to the risk of other appointments being impacted by your lateness, you may have to reschedule or have a shorter service. The cost will remain the same though, so please try to be on time. Call to inform us when possible so we can best advise you. Thank you for your compliance and understanding!

Every spa, wellness center, yoga studio, and beauty salon is unique in what they offer based on their values and expertise. At Tree of Life, our expertise is in education, life coaching, wellness & body physiology, psychology, neurospsychology, and esthetics. Although most spas or wellness centers may not offer life coaching or mindfulness as part of their spa menu, we wanted to create a business that was unique to us and our areas of expertise. Our owner is not only a licensed esthetician but she has also earned a master's degree in educational leadership with a concentration in counseling, a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in health science, and has worked in higher education for over two decades helping thousands of students and their families achieve life, wellness, educational, and career goals.  

Life coaching is similar to mental health counseling except instead of focusing on mental health diagnoses/conditions and treatments/coping mechanisms, life coaching is focused on achieving life goals with the assistance of a coach when you feel stuck or stagnant. You meet with your coach on a regular basis to evaluate your goals, to identify potential obstacles, and then enact a plan to achieve and maintain your goals. However, we do not offer counseling.

Because wellness is multifaceted, we focus on multiple dimensions of our clients' lives to help them achieve their unique wellness, happiness, skincare, and life goals. This is especially important because our body systems are all interconnected, and you will achieve the best skincare, wellness, and psychological results when you practice self-care that balances these systems simultaneously.

The word "reiki" is made of two dimensions: rei & ki. Ki is a term for universal life force or energy that flows through all of creation and the universe. In other cultures you may see it referred to as chi or mana and it is in reference to the energy of life. Rei is understood as a holy, healing energy or source of love and light. Combined, reiki is a spiritually guided life force energy that is believed to be healing and soothing. Reiki is not a religion, but it is spiritual in nature. Yes, we do offer reiki with multiple practitioners. The price depends on the level of attunement of the practitioner. Please call us for more details if you have questions or are interested. We can do reiki as a stand alone service or as part of an esthetics treatment. 

We do not currently offer body massages. Although our body treatments are incredibly relaxing and soothing, (as well as a delight to the senses!) they are not body massages. They are skin and mindfulness-based body treatments meant to relax the body, calm the mind, and beautify and soothe the skin. All of our body treatments and facials exclusively use professional products that are clean and are made from up to 100% natural botanicals. We strongly encourage you to give our body treatments or facials a try! 

We are a niche, boutique-style skin spa & happiness gift shoppe with a holistic, well-being focus. We have a beautiful storefront next to Agolino's Restaurant where we welcome shoppers and browsers Tuesday-Saturday who love to shop our happiness-inspired retail selection. We are also here to help you relax with professional skin treatments and mindfulness-based coaching, social events, and classes. At Tree of Life, we are excited that our clients have so many options to care for their wellness, beauty, and skincare needs in our area. However, if you are looking for a med spa or a full service salon/spa, we will have to refer you elsewhere. We are happy to give a referral for your other needs if we do not provide a service you desire. However, we are always adding more services, so please check back in with us from time to time!
